Rayman 2: Review

Year of Release: "Revolution": 2001 (PS2) "The Great Escape": 2000 (DC)(PS) 1999 (N64) (PC)
Developer: Ubi Soft Entertainment SA
Publisher: Ubi Soft Entertainment
ESRB: E for Everyone
Players: 1-4

Rayman 2 is one of the few platformers that people will think of for Dreamcast besides Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2.

-Gameplay-8.5/10
Fun stuff. Hmm, it's just like any other platformer, basicly. But different. The game may seem simple, but it actually has some creative twists. But pretty much your goal is to go through each level, collecting "Lums" and fighting evel robot pirates, with the help of various friends, such as this fly that has a huge smile on his face, and "Globox" this blue guy. You fight a new boss at the end of each world, too.

-Graphics->7/10
The graphics are very, very nice. Actually, it's eye-candy. But there is one problem. It basicly looks like an enhanced Nintendo 64 game, with the bluriness cleaned up and all. I don't know what it is, but it just seems so N64-ish. Still, that's me being picky once again. Looks nice. Everything flows together at a steady 60 fps.

-Sound-7.5/10
Good, but I'd rather not have the various little jibberish that Rayman and the others speak and have real voice actors instead. The effects are also good enough too.

-Music-7.5/10
The music is the cutesy usual you find in platformers. Nothing special, though satisfying.

-Replay value-8/10
There are multiplayer games, and enough lums to search for to keep you going back for more.

Overall- 7.7[ round nearest .5]
It's a great game that you don't want to miss. If you like Spyro, or Crash Bandicoot, this is definitley for you.

Final score: 7.5/10
