The graphics in this game were superb and stretched the Gamecubes abilities to its limits. There were multiple
things that enhanced your experience such as dust when you run. It also showed each
character in detail and you could see their attacks easily. There really isn't a
downside to these graphics.
Sound/Music:9/10
The Music in this game was great! Every stage has its own song and there are even new
songs in Adventure modes! The music really never gets repetitive unless you play in a
stage for a long time. The only part I'm disapointed in is the DK Rap. It just doesn't
sound good in my opinion. The sounds are great in this game too! There are bangs when
you are hit, hit the ground, and the whoosh of a beam sword when you slash. It even
has the sound of you grunting and pulling yourself up from a cliff. The characters
all made sounds when they attacked, to add to the musical elements of the game. In short,
great sound/music!
Controls:8/10
The controls were rather easy to understand in this game. Though there were a few
combinations of buttons for attacks that could get tricky. It isn't a game where you
can just turn on the game for the first time and expect to attack using every move your
players got. You need to learn all of the different moves and specials. Also, not all
characters have the same abilities. Ex. Yound Link's Hookshot can grab on to wooden
surfaces. Kirby can jump further then many characters.
Gameplay:10/10
The gameplay in this game was amazing! In Vs. Mode, there are so many things to do like
customizable Event Modes, slow melees, the classic regular melees, and even tournaments! You have 24 characters
to choose from (After you unlock them, that is) and in One Player, you can play Classic
or Adventure mode! Also, the Classic mode is random so you never know whos coming
next! They've even added an aspect where you collect trophies and each trophy had a detailed
description. This game's gameplay deserves nothing less than a perfect 10.
Diffulculty:9/10
This game was very diffulcult in many ways. Now right off, don't think diffulculty
is bad. Without duffulculty, a game would lose all fun and Replay Value and you could
beat it in a snap. This game supplies you with hours and hours of hard battling to
achieve every goal in the game. In Melee, after a bit of practice, it is pretty easy
to beat most Level 9 characters, but there is so much more to do than that. To
unlock characters, you have to do everything from beat an Event Mode to beating
Classic Mode under certain specifications only. There is certainly enough difulculty
in this game to keep you entertained for many hours on end!
Frustration:4/10
No, frustration is not the same thing as diffulculty. They are completely different.
This game can be quite frustrating at times, but mostly it is rather enjoyable more
frustrating. Though it can make you want to scream your head off when you can't beat
the Master Hand at the end, you can also just laugh thinking how easy it was to beat
a certain level in Adventure Mode, etc. This game has a very well balenced level
of frustration, so as to give you lots of fun but also very hard tasks.
Replay Value:10/10
Anything less than a ten for replay value is crazy! Even after you beat the game, the
amazing graphics and multi-player mode will have you coming back for more over and
over again! Features such as collecting trophies and event matches make you want
to try all of it again. The most grasping part of the game is Multi-Player mode, where
you can battle your friends no matter how far you've beaten the game. This is one of
the games that you'll be picking up sooner or later after you've beaten it and turning
it on as soon as you remember how fun it was.
Overall:10/10
Perfect. There simply no other way to put it. A great game thats lots of fun and can
be played over and over again. Great graphics, music, gameplay, the whole deal! If
ever was a game that you should buy for Gamecube, its this one. So, what are you waiting for?
Go out there and buy this game!
