Ocarina of Time: Ice Arrows

Ice Arrow Guide

:
This is the guide on how to get the Ice Arrows from Gerudo Training Ground. Some items you will need include the longshot, megaton hammer, lens of turth, fairy bow, silver gauntlets, know the scarecrow song(to get the scarecrow song, go to lake hylia as a child and play a 8 note song to the scarecrow. Then play the same song to the next scarecrow. Come back as an adult and play it to the scarecrow there to make it an official song) iron boots, zora tunic and hoverboots.

First, you need the Gerudo Membership Card(which is crucial to completing the game) then go to the gated off opening with the woman in front of it in Gerudo's Fortress. Pay 10 rupees and enter. As soon as you enter, turn around and shoot the eye over the doorway to get a bundle of arrows and 5 rupees.

Enter the room on the left as you walk in. A brief message will appear, telling you to defeat the enemies within a minute. The enemies are 2 stalfos. 5 hits apiece will take care of them. You can strike them when they are getting ready to attack or are at an abnormal angle where there shield is on the opposite side, so you can strike the unguarded side. Once you defeat them, get the key in the chest that has appeared, and go on through the next door.

The next room you enter give you another brief message. You must find all of the silver rupees within 1 minute and 30 seconds. You can find them like this. Go up to the first opening on the right, but not into it, and then look up with the hookshot to see a pad and rupee. hookshop up onto the pad and get the first rupee. Then run down the hall and make a left on the first opening you see to the left. Turn left again for the second silver rupee, while being wary of the rolling boulders and wall masters, (when you see the shadow over you, roll to get out of its way) and hole right near the rupee. then turn around and walk up the slope all the way to the end, to get the third silver rupee. Then go back to the middle opening on the corridor and enter it, and jump off the ledge to snag the 4th rupee. Then go a little further and turn around. Hookshot up to the ledge again, via the pad over it. and then make a right. Run to the right and down the hallway you just entered. Run all the way to the hole and then make a right to grab the 5th and final rupee. Now just go back up the hallway to the last door on the left, go through it and up the slope, and hookshot to the pad over the flame to get to the unbarred door.

Enter the next room. In this room are four wolfos, two white ones, and two regular ones. Attack these wolfos when their guard is down, normally when they are about to attack or are near you and running. It only takes a few (4 or 5) hits to bring them down. Then you will get a bundle of arrows as a reward in a chest. The door to the right is a fake, so you need to silver gauntlets to push the block out of the way, but the door ahead is barred, so equip the lens of truth and hookshot, and look at the area above the fake door with your lens. A passage is exposed, so hookshot into it and press down the switch to open up the other door. There is a door down the corridor, but the door you just opened contains a grand total of 265 rupees and a key, so go there. Just defeat the 3 Like-Likes in that now opened room by shooting arrows at their lower part and a 2 treasure chests will appear(the first on the platform is a dupe) to get a huge 200 rupees. Now for the key, use the lens of truth and a chest will appear in the top right pit where the like like was. Open this to get your 2nd key. Now, go through that door down the corridor.

This room is one you'll enter a little later as well. For now, stay on top(You can fall, but then you have to take a different, inverted path) and just play your scarecrow song right where Navi is going and flashing green. Now just go back the way you came until you come to the main room.

Now it's time to enter the other door. Enter the door on the right at the entrance to get to the another room. This room gives you a time limit of 1 minute and 30 seconds for defeating the enemies in this room. They include 2 Dinolfos and a Beamos. Take the Beamos out immediately with a bomb, or else it will pick you off as you battle the dinolfos. The Dinolfos are rather easy. 5 hits from your master sword will take care of them and they dont have any armor. The one move you must watch out for is the one after you hit them. They'll leap over you and slash you in the back, so you need to be quick to jump out of the way. A good evasive attack is to do a sword leap so you can get out of the way of their sword leap. Defeat them for a third key. Now enter the next room.

This room is where the hover boots come in handy. Theres no time limit for this one, so it's a lot easier. Jump onto the first platform and go over to the switch on the left. Press it and jump from platform to platform, picking up any silver rupees on the way, until you get to the platform on the other side of the raised area(the switch was on the first side) By now you should have had 4 rupees. Now go to one of the more central platforms and loom up towards the raised area at the opposite of where you came in. Hookshot on to that pad for the final rupee, opening the door. Now even though there are two doors, go through the one you just opened for now.

You'll enter a room that says to collect underwater gems. Play the song of time while standing on the blocks to make them disapear, exposing water underneath. Equip your iron boots and zora tunic and jump down. Sink all the way to the bottom. Defeat the clam type enemies at once by shooting the hookshot into their muscle when they open up. If you don't you'l have little chance of sucess, as they'll injure you continuosly Then go to the center, dodging the moving spike, to the first rupee. Then hookshot to the pad on the wall with the rupee under it, while falling, you'll snag the 2nd rupee. Then hookshot to the opposite wall's pad. Once you reach it, pause and take off your iron boots, putting on your Kokiri Boots. Then swim with the current around the outskirts of the wall(not going near the center) until you get the rupee above the pad. Then equip your iron boots again. The next two are easy as long as you stay with the current. Go a little to the side away from one of the rupees just above the floor, and take off your boots. Swimming with the current, you should get the rupee while rising. If you missed it, you were on the wrong side of the current, so go on the other side of the rupee and try again. Now while your swimming around with the current, once you get above the final rupee, put on your iron boots to sink down and get it. If you miss it, then just go next to it and do what you did witht he previous rupee. Once you get it, swim back up to the top to claim your prize in the treasure chest, which is another key. Now go back across the lava room and enter the door on the raised platform to your right.

As you enter this room, first kill all the enemies. The fire slugs will pose no resistance if you get them early, and a few well placed arrows wil bring down the fire keese. A treasure chest with arrows should appear. Now get the megaton hammer out. If you like to smack things, go ahead and smack all the statues, but the two switches are located on either side of the top right corner, the stand-on switch will get rid of the fire surrounding the chest, which contains a key, and the arrow switch unlocks the door to move on. Now enter the next room.

This room sends you a message to "blind the eyes of the statue" All you need for this is to shoot arrows at the statues four eyes, and to hit them dead on. This is diffulcult, as your constantly moving on a stone circle, but if you time right, it's rather a lot like the gerudo horseback riding range. If you miss an eye though, it'll reset, but there's no time limit, so just bring a lot of arrows. Getting all four eyes will give you a treasure chest containing another key. Now, as for getting out, hookshot onto the pad above the door. Now you can shoot it's eyes again, and that "discovery" noise is heard, and the door next to Pierre that was once locked is now opened. Now, to get to the door at the top, hookshot onto the scarecrow which you made appear before, and go through the door.

This room is just a freebie. No strings attached, just walk over to the treasure chest and get your 7th key. You also can look down for a nice view of your ice arrow chest which you will obtain soon.

Now its time for your reward, the ice arrows. Go in to the the main entrance room and go into the center of the 3 doors. So unlock the doors to the left with your 7 keys, picking up some rupees and items along the way. (you can take the doors on the right, but those only get you supplies) Once you get to the seventh door, unlock it to get your ice arrows! Congratulations!

2 More Keys Incase you took the path to the right

If you took the path to the right in the treasure room, blowing off 2 of your precious keys, fear not! There are actually a total of 9 keys. One of these two keys can be gotten after going through the two locked doors on the right. On the platform on the lava room. (It can also be reached by playing the Song Of Time on the switch right next to the platform in the lava room). The second key is gotten in the treasure chamber as well. Take the first door on the left. Then look up with the lens of truth, and you can see a secret hole in the ceiling. Climb up the grating to get there to claim your 9th key.
